The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ

The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ

According to Premillennialism, the Millennial will start after the Tribulation and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The length will be a literal 1,000 years in which saints will rule alongside the King of kings:

Satan will be bound for the entire thousand years until he is set free for a short time after the 1,000 years during what is called the second Battle of Gog and Magog. The devil is then cast into the Lake of Fire. After this, the Great White Throne Judgement occurs which is the judgement of unbelievers. These people who are not found in the Book of Life are thrown into the Lake of Fire; unbelievers will not enter the Kingdom. If you are wondering whether there will still be sin during the Millennium, check out this post:

As David Jeremiah states, …the Millennium will be a thousand-year period of glorious grace and heavenly harmony. Satan will be completely removed from society, his influence entirely [mostly] withdrawn. There will be no more war. No more destruction. No more injustice” (Jeremiah 142). While this time will not be exactly like the New Heaven and New Earth…

What will the New Heaven and New Earth be like?

What will the New Heaven and New Earth be like?

When people think of Heaven, they think of a cloud-filled place somewhere above and beyond this universe where there are angels, people singing and playing instruments such as harps, and complete tranquility exists. There are many misconceptions and circulated myths surrounding this topic. Humans have created their own versions of Heaven as with all of the other invented religions. They often don’t…

…it will be drastically better than the current world we are living in, to say the least. Just by reading this passage we can obtain a better understanding of the type of peace that will exist:

Isaiah 11:6-9
New International Version

“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

Though Amos 9:13 doesn’t specifically reference the Millennium, it is often associated with it:

“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills’” (New International Version).

In Isaiah 65:21-23, we read:

From these verses, we know the infant will play near the cobra’s den. Can you imagine that? The animals will coexist rather than try to eat each other. We also know that we will enjoy our work, and the byproduct of our work will belong to us. No longer are the days where our work “unfairly” goes to someone else or someone else “unfairly” profits off of us.

For those who are given glorified bodies, they will not die. As gotquestions.org states,

Those who occupy the millennial kingdom with glorified bodies can be divided into three subgroups: the church, whose bodies were either resurrected or changed at the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 Corinthians 15:21–23, 51–53); tribulation martyrs, who are resurrected after Christ returns to earth (Revelation 20:4–6); and the Old Testament saints, who we assume are resurrected at the same time (see Daniel 12:2). Those who occupy the kingdom with earthly bodies have survived the tribulation and can be subdivided into two groups: believing Gentiles and believing Jews. (“Who Will Occupy the Millennial Kingdom?”)

Jesus Christ will sit on David’s throne in Jerusalem. The prevailing view is that people will live all throughout the world during this period. Some people will travel to Jerusalem annually to worship Jesus Christ:

Zechariah 14:16
New International Version

Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.

Some questions we may have: Will there be technology, sports, money, pets, etc.? While we may not entirely have those answers yet, we do know it will be nothing short of spectacular. It will be much closer to how God originally intended His creation to live.
